2025 Jan 31 update

Solar panels on a roof with a shadow of a person. Snowy landscape in the background.
The solar panels on the roof will ensure that Station 10 in Silverthorne is environmentally friendly.

The team with Hyder Construction overseeing the building of our new fire station in Silverthorne report that paint is going on walls in full force, giving the facility the beginnings of its interior aesthetic, especially now that hard lids are taped and finished. They also finished up the installation of the solar panels on the roof and will wire them in the coming weeks. Next week, visible progress will include the trash-enclosure roof, installing gutters, patching and sealing concrete and hanging interior doors. Less visible will be the rough clean, starting up the boilers and furnace and running the Hotsy and cord-reel conduit (for keeping our apparatus clean) -- a lot of activities as we tread on closer to the finish line!

An open HVAC unit with exposed wiring, nearby ladder, and tools.
The furnace now is installed and ready to fire up
An industrial room with a metal ceiling, ventilation ducts, fluorescent lights, and various equipment and boxes.
The garage doors for the workout room undoubtedly will be a popular feature on our beautiful summer days
A room under construction with ceiling tiles, bare walls, and scattered construction materials.
The kitchen likely will be the social center of the fire station, just as it is for any home.

The snow-melt system will mean the crew can respond quickly without having to shovel their way out to the road.
