Note: The May 2, 2023, special district election for the Summit Fire & EMS Board of Directors has been CANCELLED under a provision in state law that deems such elections unnecessary when the self-nominated candidates equal the number of open seats available. We will have more information on our new board members in the near future.
Summit Fire & EMS is established as a special district under Title 32 of the Colorado Revised Statutes and is governed by a five member publicly elected board of directors.
Regular meetings of the board are conducted monthly at the SFE Administration Building. The board hires and supervises the SFE fire chief in addition to overseeing the budget and governing the organization's business and affairs. Updates from chief officers, the finance manager and other various program managers are provided in both writing and verbal communications to the board.
